Digital artist Beeple cemented his place in the history books with this one. Auction house Christie\u2019s sold his human-size 3D video sculpture and NFT hybrid in their first live event since the pandemic. The piece exceeded expectations, the projections had \u201cHuman One\u201d selling for $15M and it almost doubled that. Does this hybrid format open a new chapter for NFT art? We wouldn\u2019t know, but Beeple\u2019s piece sold alongside works from Jean-Michel Basquiat, Banksy, and Peter Doig.<\/span><\/p>\n

A better question might be, are NFT artists willing to put this much effort into their pieces?\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

What Do We Know About \u201cHuman One\u201d By Beeple?<\/span><\/h2>\n
The real-life installation is almost 7 Ft. high and consists of four screens. It has a computer at the base. The environment the astronaut-like figure walks through is ever-changing. According to Christie\u2019s \u201c<\/span>it\u2019s drawn at random from a data pool of the artist\u2019s visual creations that is accessed via the Ethereum blockchain<\/span><\/i>.\u201d Not only that, <\/span>Barrons.com informs us<\/span><\/a> that \u201c<\/span>Beeple\u2019s plan is to shift the generative art images over time \u201cin response to current events,\u201d Christie\u2019s said. The result will be \u201can eternally contemporary work of art.<\/span><\/i>\u201d\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
